KKR has developed a series of proprietary tools and resources for portfolio companies engaged as part of this platform.

The EIA is intended to motivate and reward innovative projects that drive measurable environmental and business value
KKR and KKR Capstonei Experts:
Access to KKR and KKR Capstonei experts in corporate sustainability strategy and energy management, including a full-time energy experti dedicated to our portfolio and summer Climate Corps fellows from Environmental Defense Fund to assist companies across our private equity, real estate, and energy and infrastructure asset classes with energy efficiency and management
KKR Network:
Networking with fellow portfolio company executives and best practice sharing via in-person conferences and/or informal networking
Global and Regional Communications Platform:
Support with reaching portfolio companies’ key audiences with customized media access and stories

GSP Historic Results

The Green Solutions Platform (GSP) seeks to drive business and environmental value by supporting and highlighting the work of KKR portfolio companies across a wide variety of focus areas. The GSP includes companies that enhance eco-efficiency, advance eco-innovation, and/or offer a solution to environmental problems as core to their business mandate. 2016 Participants’ Progress and Results

The following current and former portfolio companies reported 2016 results as part of the Green Solutions Platform update in 2017. These 13 case studies, three from entirely new program participants, describe projects across four asset classes, including private equity, special situations, real estate, and infrastructure, as well as span a range of geographies and focus areas. The below current and former portfolio companies previously communicated results as part of the Green Portfolio Program in its final reporting year (2013). The Green Portfolio Program (GPP), which launched in 2008 and reported results through 2014, is the predecessor to the Green Solutions Platform (GSP). Companies engaged in the GSP can learn from the experiences and results of GPP participants. Notes:

  1. Company has exited the KKR portfolio and thus is no longer reporting results into the program.
  2. Results from declines in efficiency are not included in portfolio company summaries, but are included in the aggregate data. Therefore, estimated environmental and financial benefits in the summary table may sum to more than the reported "total" results, which takes into account the impacts from decreases in efficiency. In order to aggregate the results across participating portfolio companies, at some companies metric tons of waste was converted to short tons of waste and units of measurement for water use were converted to cubic meters.
  3. Bharti Infratel's results are not included as part of the aggregate program results (see footnote on Bharti Infratel page).
